Meet Dr. Heather Hoffman

Dr Heather Hoffman is a board certified pediatric dentist.  She grew up in a small town in North Carolina and got her BS Biology degree from UNC Chapel Hill.  It was important to her to stay close to home during college years to be able to visit her Grandpa.  However, after college she felt she needed to push herself and experience big city life, assuming she’d return to North Carolina someday.  During dental school at NYU she met her husband, Dr. Moe Hakim.  During her additional 2 years of pediatric specialty training at NYU after she received her DDS, she traveled by bus, plane, and train to visit him on the weekends as he completed residency in Washington, D.C.  She then worked as a pediatric dentist in Maryland, Boston, and Ann Arbor, as she moved with him supporting his career.  She feels relieved to be putting down roots back home on the East Coast, closer to family and friends.

While at NYU, Dr Heather served on the Peer Review Board (a disciplinary ethics committee), was president of Student Professionalism and Ethics Association, and was the ethics chair for ASDA.  She was also Co-Social Chair of her class one year.  She volunteered in the Honors Program for Patient Survivors of Torture where she provided dental care to patients from other countries seeking asylum for abuse.  The work she did did not count towards her graduation requirements and was done on her day off. Since her residency, she’s been a bridesmaid in 4 of her co-residents’ weddings, amongst others.  She makes strong relationships for life.  In her free time, she enjoys: Pilates, hikes (far from edges), adventures with her kids, riding on boats, painting, traveling, late brunch, live music, and tagging along in someone else’s well thought out itinerary.  Oh and taking pictures of her kids of course!

After traveling from NY to Washington, DC to Boston to Michigan, supporting her husband and having three kids along the way, she and her husband, Moe, decided to move closer to family and open their Mom and Pop shop!  SO they could provide patients with the experience they’ve always envisioned.

My Why?

I enjoy the excitement of children as they grow, explore and achieve.  I appreciate the relationships built with the families as I see them grow.  I love art and have pride in my decision-making, my skills, and my kind heart.  I enjoy what I do as I surround myself with others who enjoy being a part of the wild ride.  We care about expertise, kindness, and respect.  We’re inspired to help those around us: our patients, our staff, our community.  We are a family oriented business.  This is our home away from home and we welcome you to call it your [dental] home too.  We look forward to seeing your baby grow until ready to get a job or start a family of his or her own.  We welcome infants to college grads!  This is focused, personalized care with more doctor patient time than the “norm.”  We enjoy getting to know our families.  My father was a small town internal medicine physician.  We may be in a major metropolis but hope to recreate that small town bond.
